Summer Bounty

This is my Favorite Photo of August post, even if it is a bit premature in the month.  It reflects a walk to the garden and down the lane and the items I gathered.  My favorite thing to collect are feathers, and the black and white turkey feathers are rare in our field, even though the turkeys themselves are plentiful.  As I assembled my bounty on the counter I was surprised by how much it resembled the Marjorlein Bastin artwork I have always admired.  Artists like her remind me of my Aunt Nancy who paints images from her yard all season long.  In lieu of getting out the old watercolors, I decided instead to just snap a picture with my camera.

These couple apples and cucumbers are just the beginning of a long awaited summer bounty…the garden is ready to burst with squash, zucchini and tomatoes in every color!
