A Tustin Cottage Before and After Reveal

Last fall I met a client at their newly purchased cottage on Lake Poygan in Tustin, WI.  The dark and dated home needed a major face lift and a little sparkle to become the welcoming summer retreat they envisioned.  Construction of this total first floor gut job was completed in time to enjoy boating season here on the water.  With sunset views right off the dock, it is also the perfect place to settle in with a fire and a glass of wine.  Check out the end result-

Before:

The original living room was such a closed off space with an awkward step and small windows made even smaller by heavy window treatments.  This blocked the entire view of the water from inside the cottage- the biggest selling feature of the home!

After:

Windows were removed, patio doors were installed, trim was painted white and a beachy LVT (luxury vinyl tile) flooring was installed.  A modern electric fireplace was a last minute add to dress up an otherwise empty wall.  The room stayed basically the same, the potential of which was just hidden under all the wrong finishes.

And the Kitchen Before:

After:

An island adds function to an otherwise wasted space.  Crystal lights add a little glamour to lakeside living…

The quartz counter tops are simple and timeless and who doesn’t love a blue island???

A herringbone back splash in the kitchen adds an elegant twist.  The soft tones of the stone tile reminiscent of colors you would see inside a seashell.

And the kitchen is dog approved!

Hidden under the drop ceiling, wood paneling and Berber carpet was a coastal cottage ready to be imagined!
