When It’s Easy Being Green

I love shades of green! Army green, olive green, sage green…I have been a fan of green for years. The exterior of my house is Cypress Green by Certainteed, perhaps showing the biggest commitment to the color a person can express! However, after jewel tones ruled the 90’s and Hunter Green was a staple part of that trend for years, I never imagined to see such a fresh revival of the color as I did during the KBIS and IBS 2020 show in Las Vegas last month. Various booths and vendors across the convention featured updated shades of a deep and inviting green used with so much more glamour and polish it makes you forget the basic hunter green of our past. I only caught a few with my phone but check them out for yourself!

This plumbing vignette showcases the green trend in a mod bathroom setting with brass fixtures. Similar to the introduction of gold and navy, the green trend tends to go hand in hand with this warm toned metal.

In another part of the show this kitchen features a more farmhouse version of the green.

The vintage inspired plate rack also reflects the desire to bring back this color and pair it with warm woods. A far cry from the white, grey and black color schemes that currently rule HGTV.

And my absolute favorite shade of the show- these cabinets were painted Vintage Vogue by Benjamin Moore. I only know this because the designer was standing by and heard me exclaim about the color so she offered up the details.

But the color extended beyond kitchens. If you are looking to embrace the beauty of green without changing your cabinets, might I suggest this stunning glazed tile. It was featured in a light blue, a delicate pink and this deep and rich hue.

And that’s all the shots I have- but once you start to look you can see it creeping in everywhere. I have a linen covered journal from last year that reflects a similar dark green and I can’t deny that my “little bedroom” is taking on a woodland feel due to the rise in popularity of the pine color.

It has me seriously rethinking the whole full circle effect of our laundry room that had dark green trim when we bought it. It’s the only room in the house that I have painted more than once and it has one more coat and color change yet to go. If I could only make Vintage Vogue work in there! All of this color reflection has me reevaluating the scheme of my house, what I love about each room and why I would never be happy with white…catch-up on all my thoughts in my post “I Heart Color” coming soon!
