Seven Ways to Celebrate St. Patty’s Day!
With St. Patrick’s Day just days away I thought I would share with you my favorite ways to celebrate this Irish Holiday! I’ve broken down my list into 3 categories: How to Look, What to Eat and What to Do!
Here’s Seven Outstanding Ways to Celebrate St. Patty’s Day!
How to look:
#1 Color your mustache green!
Even if you’re a girl- there is really no excuse not to do this!
#2 Wear a festive hat…any size will do-
Personally I think the tinier the top hat the better!
What to Eat:
#3 Enjoy some Irish cuisine!
Whether it’s Irish Stew at Familiar Grounds in New London or corned beef and cabbage at a local diner, it’s fun to eat Irish for a day!
I had this colorful (and delicious) corned beef sandwich last year at the Appleton Beer Factory in downtown Appleton. They also recently added a Brews of the World section to their menu so you can drink more Irish too! You can read more about them and other fun restaurants in- Eat Like You’re on Vacation!
#4 Leave Room for Dessert!
Irish Car Bomb Cupcakes!
Of course we can thank the amazing Amanda Cupcake for this creation! Chocolate cupcakes dipped in a chocolate Guinness glaze! Amaze-balls!
#5 Don’t Forget to Have a Shamrock Shake!
How can you resist? It’s only once a year!
What to Do:
If you want to stay home for the holiday, might I suggest watching the ridiculously horrible Leprechaun movies! But you might want to read these 10 Things You Didn’t Know about the movies first- in case you have ever doubted that your friend’s rendition of the Leprechaun rap from the 5th movie: “Leprechaun: In the Hood” really happened (Spoiler: it did). But if you intend to go out-
#6 Attend a Parade
After Boston MA, my beloved Savannah GA has the second largest St. Patty’s Day Parade in the states-
But for those of us the Northeast WI area, might I suggest the one held in New London!
And as long as you’re there you might want to stay awhile, which brings us to my final outstanding way to celebrate St. Patty’s Day-
#7 Party like you live near a town that loves St. Patrick’s Day sooo much they change their name from New London to New Dublin…for the entire week!
Have a drink and listen to some great Irish bands at the tent in the Festival Foods parking lot or head out to Main Street as the fun continues all night long!
Don’t forget to get your picture taken with people in crazy costumes!
And when Mr. Nice guy shows up- you know you’re in for a good time!
Happy St. Patrick’s Day!
The New Dublin festivities take place this Saturday March 21st- visit their website for more info!
