Liberating the Lilacs: One year later
Last summer I shared a story that alluded to my struggles in setting boundaries and choosing a career path that supported my dreams and ambitions without making me an easy target to be overworked and underappreciated.
“I had assumed the lilac could handle the stress of the vines. I had assumed that because the lilac had done it before it could do it again.”
“What I didn’t realize is how you can become when you are deprived of the sunlight. How tragic it really is to be too tired to bloom.
Here were the lilacs last year as I began to snip free the vines that confined them, no healthy buds ready to bloom.
And here they are this year, making a comeback, joyfully displaying all the life still left in them!
“What a difference there is between surviving and flourishing.”
