The best green decor I’ve shopped recently!

We are breaking into March with the Irish celebration on the horizon. Less than two weeks until St Patrick’s Day! This marks a day of fun for us and our friends as we attend the New London (or New Dublin) parade and enjoy corned beef and cabbage back at our house. As we get in the holiday spirit I wanted to share all the signs of spring and festive green that has been prominent in the displays of all those little shopping stops I have frequented lately.

Hart Mercantile, Ripon

Hart Mercantile impressed me with their displays of vintage goods cast against a moody backdrop. I especially loved these velvet mushrooms that were hanging out everywhere, lending a little whimsy and a touch of green. Also- mushrooms just feel like the logical pairing for shamrocks, leprechauns and pots of gold.

In the back corner of the store I admired the how the green vase, green feathers, green velvet mushrooms, and green leather book all stand out as the peacock plays against expectation as a subdued and earthy centerpiece.

And there is definitely something about green that looks oh so good with gold.

And if you aren’t as invested in an entire seasonal overhaul some simple greenery on display in playful white jars is a nice way to update a mantle or table.

Water Street Vintage, New London

How appropriate is this St Patrick’s day inspired beer can? I gotta say- some of the art on today’s craft beer cans are getting harder and harder to part with. I’ve been finding myself using them as seasonal decor so why not embrace this vintage piece as a fun and graphic throwback?

And the vendor “Picker’s Patch” is always there with their unique crafty glitter mushrooms, mixed among other bright green 70’s kitchen wares and pieces of nostalgia.

For a more subtle use of our color scheme, and in keeping this post full of whimsy- this adorable hand made banjo looks festive enough on a green chair to inspire a seasonal story that would introduce a wise old owl from a southern swamp to a spirited leprechaun from the green isle. Who knows!?! Maybe there is!

Patina Vie, Ripon

Here’s where we step up the sophistication, which is what you should come to expect from a place like Patina Vie. So many options for antique glass ware for your next table setting!

I adore these little sipping and spirit glasses. If you have ever inherited a set, or been invited to an afternoon where these were in full use- you would know why these are so special. They are a great addition to your bar cart if sampling specialty liquors, home made party favors or some of the finest is on your party agenda.

And if you are too classy for afternoon shots of home made apple brandy or Italian grappa, these are a touch of green you can also use at a more elegant Easter brunch!

Urban Evolutions, Appleton

This birdhouse reminds me of the types of things my 13 year-old self used to scrounge the yard for when I had a flower garden at my parents house. From a festive spring decoration that will be at home in the yard once the weather warms up, it can be a great way to bring the feeling of spring greenery inside as things stay dormant and beige outside.

Well hopefully this gets you into the mood to make this next month feel special as we transition from worn out winter to the promise of spring. We often get our hopes up here in WI and fall back into a sudden snowstorm in May. Every once in a while we get lucky, the summer temps stick and we get a drama free road to summer! Here’s hoping this is one of those years!

Happy St Patrick’s Day!
