February Favorite Photo
As a child I loved to ice skate. I had an old pair of hand me down white skates that I would put on with thick socks to skate on the creek under the dusk to dawn light in our backyard. I recall a winter when we were able to skate all the way down the creek, through the giant culvert, come out across the road in the swamp and skate around frozen cattails.
Last year I bought a brand new pair of skates. I hadn’t skated in years and had never even owned a new pair. A part of me wondered if I would even be able to anymore.
But the second I hit the ice it was just like old times. Everything came rushing back.
And I found the frozen places to skate through the swamp and around the trees.
I turned back time on a sunny February afternoon.
