November Favorite Photo
My camera and I embrace the rain, the fog, any departure from a full sunny day with bright blue skies. There is a richness I enjoy. The Amnicon Falls photos seen in this month’s fall travel series post are evidence of this. I don’t think the stone walls in the park would have looked as otherworldly if not for the white foggy backdrop. Likewise I am sharing my misty Sunday afternoon trying to catch the rusty orange of the oak tree at the edge of my parents property.
Of course another element came into play. A curious cow grazing on the other side of the fence decided to see what I was up to. And in a scene of tattered khakis grasses, a drab green field and a colorless skyline we have this sharp black outline.
I have a painting in my dining room that I bought years ago because it reminded me of the horses that used to be seen in this field every fall. I like art that is reminiscent of some place I know. I love photography that feels like art- photography that still makes you look into the scene the way you would a painting, that makes you remember something without giving you all the details at once.
I share my favorite photos even though they are probably only meaningful to me. I encourage you to have a few photos that hold as much meaning for you.
