How to choose tile for a classic bathroom
Back in September I mentioned I had more of the New Construction Farmhouse to share. So I thought I would jump right into the new year with a review of all the classic bathrooms in the build.
Jack and Jill Bath:
Although I might never be the type of person to swoon at a clean white subway tile, they are earmarked in every design book as the most timeless and classic choice. Here they are meant to provide coverage for a wall above a deeper more square shaped tub. I enjoy the darker grout and the hexagon floor. The sparkly lights give the room a bit of glamour.
Second Floor Main Bath:
This bathroom took advantage of a budget friendly shower surround imprinted with a white subway tile texture. The floor is a historic black and white pattern that can be seen as a timeless tile throughout the decades. The grey vanity challenges the black and white scheme and softens it a bit.
Owner Suite Bathroom:
Behind this bold black barn door off the bedroom you will find the highlight of the second floor bathrooms! This room features black penny tile floors, two rich wood colored vanities, a walk-in tile shower, soaking tub and navy accent on the walls.
And before we finish out this bathroom tour I wanted to mention this suite also features it’s own laundry room off the closet. The large scale black flooring was set in a herringbone pattern to add that extra design detail to an often overlooked room.
The key to a classic bathroom is not only in picking flooring designs that have stood the test of time. It is also in knowing when to use painted furniture piece vanities and when to bring in a little bit of color. If you only use white and black it won’t matter how timeless the scheme truly is- it will lack the heart every room in your house deserves. Classic bathrooms still emulate a livable space and feel like a part of a home.
